Seeking greater insight into the baseline presence of disease and environmental stress on wild harbor seal populations, the Center has been given permission to capture, test, tag and release a greater number of young, presumably typical animals.<br />&nbsp;<br />With expanded public awareness and support, the potential benefits to care of the hospital's patients and the maintenance of healthy wild colonies are immense.</p>";

Despite setbacks and even threats of violence (see March 2008 ALERT), volunteers from diverse organizations, coalitions, and interest groups continue to organize to achieve their common goal of maintaining a secure environment for the colony.</p>";
