(Lenie 't Hart's Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre, est. in Pieterburen, Netherlands in 1971, was the first rehabilitation centre to obtain an ISO 9001
-2000 quality certificate.)

Vigorous rescue/release program with over 35 volunteers. Originally started in County Kerry in 2010.

Just opened in July 2014. this independent marine mammal sanctuary had 35 seals in house on 1/14/15.
Part of the EHBZ (Dutch initials for 'First Aid for Marine Mammmals') stranding network, with regular aid stations on the coast of
South Holland and Zeeland.

Center for information, breeding, research active in Germany since 1980.
Begun by "hunters" in 1971, disposing of 1,123 dead animals during 1988 PDV epidemic, open for public tours in national park.

Founded and supported by the joint effort of municipal, regional, and national agencies as well as academic and conservation faculties.

Regional branch of Swedish wildlife rescue association founded in 1979 in response to oil spills.
Seal rehabilitation began in 1988 with help from Pieterburen during PDV epidemic. Currently permitted for all seal species.

SealWatch.org is dedicated to the general well-being of harbor seals and to vigorous enforcement of applicable law for their protection. Alerts will be posted here of documented instances of continued disturbance or threats to harbor seal safety and habitat. Cheers will be posted when new efforts have been made to extend protection.
